A Bella Vista, Arkansas man was sent to Mercy Hospital in Bella Vista with moderate injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the Jane Walmart parking lot in McDonald County Tuesday.

James A. Dean, 81, was in the crosswalk when struck by a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Frances D. Hare, 51 of Goodman, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Hare was uninjured in the 2:08 p.m. incident.

Clayton D. Burke, 17 of Diamond, suffered minor injuries when the vehicle he was driving Monday left a Newton County road.

Burke failed to negotiate a curve while traveling southbound on Carver Road, two miles southwest of Diamond, and the patrol reported the 2006 Dodge Durango traveled off the left side of the road and struck a fence.

He was taken by a private vehicle to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin after the 8 p.m. crash.

A Neosho man was released from the Newton County Jail after his arrest by the patrol Tuesday.

Christopher M. Burton, 37, was booked into the jail at 11:10 p.m. on counts of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and displaying the plates of another vehicle.
