Joplin earned a 2-all tie with two runs in the top of the third, but the T-Bones came right back with four runs in the bottom half of the third against Joplin starter Frank Del Valle. The Blasters could only manage single tallies in the sixth and the ninth.
The Blasters fell to 9-15 on the season, four games behind the Laredo Lemurs in the South Division. Laredo comes to town today for the start of a three-game series against the Blasters at historic Joe Becker Stadium.
Mitch Glasser's four-hit effort Monday night went for naught. Glasser reached on an error in the first and singled in his last four at-bats at even-inning intervals — third, fifth, seventh and ninth innings. Glasser improved his batting average to .382.
The Blasters lost the third game in the series, 5-3 on Sunday, as the T-Bones were able to build a 5-2 lead after four innings.
Carlos Fuentes took the loss for the Blasters, allowing four runs on six hits over three innings of work. Fuentes struck out four and walked just one, and his ERA on the season stands at 2.35. Keith Picht and Victor Capellan closed out the game with three innings of scoreless relief.
The Blasters scored two in the third and one in the ninth. Oscar Mesa and Glasser led off the third with a pair of walks. Mesa scored on Charlie Valerio's double and Glasser on Willie Cabrera's 4-3 groundout. Glasser's RBI double in the ninth closed out the scoring.
