A 16-year-old Anderson female was killed Sunday in an accident that occurred at Patterson Creek Road, two miles east of Tiff City.

A 16-year-old Anderson female was killed Sunday in an accident that occurred at Patterson Creek Road, two miles east of Tiff City.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Lillian D. Wanders, 16, was a passenger in a car driven by Austin J. Owens, 18, driving westbound in a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban, when the car ran off of the roadway, struck and tree. As required by law, Owens was tested for alcohol. Aside from Owens and Wanders in the vehicle, three other occupants: female Maya I. Dally, 15, Anderson; female Allison Duckett, 16, Anderson; and male Trenton Lovatt, 15, Goodman, sustained injuries.
Duckett and Lovatt received serious injuries and were transported to Freeman West Hospital - Joplin, while Dally received minor injuries and was transported to Freeman West. Owens - who was the only one wearing a safety belt, was transported to Freeman West with serious injuries. Wanders was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:10 a.m. This was Troop D's 11th fatality for 2017.

• A two vehicle accident occurred at 9:45 p.m. Sunday in Newton County.
According to the patrol report, 68-year-old female Sherrey L. Moore, Joplin, driving a 2012 Ford F-150, attempted to turn northbound onto Cortez Lane into the path of a 1994 Toyota Camry, driven by 36-year-old female June M. Davis, Pierce City. Davis's vehicle struck Moore's vehicle on the front passenger side. Moore sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin, while Davis and a passenger, Jasmin A. Armstrong, 15-year-old female, refused medical treatment at the scene.

• A Jay, Okla. 39-year-old male sustained moderate injuries at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, on MO Highway 76, west of Anderson. According to the report, Jason E. Potter was traveling westbound, when his vehicle ran off of the left side of the roadway and struck several trees. He was taken by private vehicle to Integris Grove Hospital, Grove. Potter was wearing his seatbelt at the time.
