JOLLY MILL — The ninth annual Pierce City Arts Festival has moved to Jolly Mill, located in the eastern part of Newton County this Saturday, with an additional event as well.

JOLLY MILL — The ninth annual Pierce City Arts Festival has moved to Jolly Mill, located in the eastern part of Newton County this Saturday, with an additional event as well.
"The purpose of having the festival every year is to in hance our community through the arts and give advocation and opportunity to the artists for show and sales," said Becky Golubski, festival coordinator. "This year should be, we are going to be rain or shine, we are in partnership with Jolly Mill, so this will be the first year that we will be at Jolly Mill. we also have some vendors from neosho, so i am really excited about having all of us getting together and doing this"

Schedule
Festival will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
9 to 11 a.m. Biscuits and gravy, violin performances and a student recital
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Photography competition and exhibit.
Pre-registration for the race will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the big race will start at 1 p.m. sharp with prizes and awards to be announced directly following the race!
3 p.m. "Drawing with Mrs. Still," learn some basics, tips and tricks for easy drawing.
3 p.m. duck race at the mill

Outdoor art workshops
11 a.m. to noon "Old Red Barn" watercolor workshop with Gwen Campbell. Admission is free, and all painting supplies will be there for your use.
1 to 2 p.m. Free root beer floats at Brian's Root Beer Trailer (one per person).
2 to 3 p.m.: "The Science of Music:  Discover the mysteries of music through scientific experimentation and create your own musical instruments while learning the basics of how to read and play music on homemade pitched percussion instruments.

EAST PAVILLION ACTIVITIES

After race ends, music will be provided by "The Creek Band".  All the way from Texas!
10 am - 2 pm  "Make A Kite and Fly It" Workshop.  Don and Vicki Iman have been making our skies colorful for years, and they'll show you how you can too!  (small fee)
 
4 pm "Hoop Dancin'" with Aubrey.  There's more to hula hooping than you could ever imagine!  Come find out.   (hoops provided by the YMCA)


 FREE ROOT BEER FLOATS at Brian's Root Beer Trailer, south side of East Pavilion.  1 per person.


ALL DAY EVENTS


Jeff Jones, sculptor extraordinaire.  Watch clay be amazingly transformed into something life like!  Under the big tree near the Mill.
3D Recyclable Art and More for all ages, near school house

INFO BOOTH/Free Coloring booth for kids and adults! Take a break from the festivities and sit awhile to color with us.

Sampler's Garden.  Featuring Keltoi Winery, White Mule Distillery, and Mother's Brewing Co.  Delight your taste buds in the local spirits and crafts!  Must be 21 and older.  $7 donation for a 6 oz sampling festival souvenir wine glass.
