For the fifth year, the Armed Forces Music Festival will be held in Neosho on Saturday.

For the fifth year, the Armed Forces Music Festival will be held in Neosho on Saturday.  
Although previously held at the Neosho National Fish Hatchery, this year's event will be held in Morse Park.  The event begins at 2 p.m. and runs through 9:30 p.m., concluding with a  professional fireworks display.
The day will include live music, patriotic and military displays, food and craft vendors, bounce houses, 1 mile and 5k runs, a fishing tournaments and more.  Retired Naval Commander Kevin Sidenstricker will serve as master of ceremonies of the event. Sidenstricker is an area native. A retired Navy pilot and commander, Sidenstricker also spent five years in the IT/Defense industry before pursuing a career in film, television and on stage.  
Sidenstricker now lives in the Joplin area. He works as a DJ for a local station and owns Sidenstricker Voice Services, providing audio book narration and voice overs.
Special events will include a World War II recognition event and a POW/MIA event which will include a 21-gun salute and Taps performance.
Six live bands will perform throughout the day including area favorites Big Smitty and Walrus.
The family friendly event  raises funds to support veterans and is a non-profit collaboration of several organizations including Heartland Canines For Veterans, Compass Quest Veteran's Services, Peterson Outdoor Ministries, and many sponsors.
