The OATS Rider Appreciation Picnic will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the Neosho National Fish Hatchery and the public is invited to attend.
"The picnic is meant for two purposes: (first) to show appreciation to the riders of OATS transportation and the community for the support of the service," said Kevin Johnson, media contact with Neosho Community OATS support committee. "(Secondly), to increase community awareness of OATS and the service it provides to both riders and businesses in the community."
Along with the free picnic lunch (donations welcome, but not necessary), there will be balloons for the children and information regarding the OATS service."
"The primary purpose of OATS is to provide transportation to individuals to get to and from medical appointments, work and personal errands within the community.," he said. "The service provided to the community is invaluable given that it performs service to the community in two ways. One by providing much needed transportation to the riders of OATS to perform errands that they would not be able to do. Secondly by empowering businesses to realize customers that it might not otherwise, were it not for OATS Transportation. Without the OATS service the complexities and difficulties of life would be increased by the numerous riders of OATS. As well, businesses in the community would realize a loss in revenue from the loss of patrons who ride use the OATS Transportation services."
