The cost of tuition for out-of-district students and international students attending Crowder College will increase.
On Monday, the college's board of trustees voted to increase the tuition by 1 percent.
"The state finance chair said that we could increase it 1 percent, well 1 percent of $88 is only 88 cents, so we didn't want to mess with in-district tuition," said Cindy Brown, director of public information at the college. "So out of district went up a $1, international went up a $1, that is it on tuition. Then once we get the state budget, we will relook at it in the fall, to see."
The rate will increase from $137 to $138 per credit hour and from $186 to $187 per credit hour, respectively. Tuition for in-district students, which are those who live inside either Newton and McDonald counties, would remain flat next fall at $88 per credit hour.
"So the fees are going up a little," she said.
Fees, which are paid by all students, will increase between $2 and $5 per credit hour. The institutional support fee will increase from $18 to $23 per credit hour, safety and security, $5 to $7, online course fee, $25 to $28, and flex course fee, $13 to $15.
The new rates will go into effect in the Fall 0f 2018.
