GRANBY — Recently, the East Newton R-6 Charitable Foundation and EN United received a donation from La-Z-Boy.
"The East Newton Charitable Foundation and East Newton United were presented a check from La-Z-Boy in the amount of $15,000," EN United Chairman  Shannon McDermott said. "This was not our first time to receive this grant however, I believe it is the largest amount we have received from La-Z-Boy to date for both organizations.."
The money will be used for food and grants.
"EN United will be able to continue programs such as the weekend food packs, scholarships and community programs as well as meet the needs of our students as the arise," she said. "The EN Charitable Foundation will be using the money to issue grants during the 2018-2019 school year."
The EN R-6 Charitable Foundation provides grants to teachers in order to enrich and enhance the educational needs of our students within the classrooms and through school sponsored activities.  EN United works to bring our community together to meet the basic needs of our students in an effort to give all our students equal opportunities to learn, grow and succeed.
"Both organizations are so very thankful and feel very blessed to be chosen, without community support neither program would be able to fulfill their missions.," said McDermott. "We would like to thank La-Z-Boy for recognizing the needs of our small community and for consistently giving and being one of the top annual supporters of both programs. It is such an honor to be chosen for this grant. "
