This week, members of the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce, Y members and community members gathered for the grand re-opening and ribbon cutting at the Neosho Freeman Southwest Family YMCA.
"This has been a long time coming and something they're excited about," Ashley Siler, Director of Communication and Membership Development at the Chamber of Commerce.
The YMCA recently remodeled and extended their hours to provide members with 24/7 access.
"Thank you for being here," Ben Coffey, Executive Director of the Y, said. "We share the excitement. Our role is to serve the community in any way we can help you with your healthy living journey. We want to play a part in it."
Coffey said that last fall three areas were suggested for improvement, which were access, location, and price. "There's not much we can do about location," he said, noting that they have added 24 hour access and a 12% discount.
"Thanks to our board of directors and thank you to Chris Marion Construction, that helped us alter our building. To help celebrate this, we're offering special membership prices for April, $24 memberships for the month of April."
Coffey introduced his staff and then cut the ribbon. After the ribbon cutting, tours of the YMCA were available.
"Stay as long as you like," Coffey told the crowd. "After all, we're open 24 hours."
