The Easter Bunny came and so did the kids, at least 900 of them from preschoolers to preteens to enjoy the 6th Annual Easter Eggstravaganza last weekend.
Held on the Saturday prior to Easter, the event brought out an estimated 2,000 people to Morse Park North.
"What a big Saturday we had," Lana Henry, Event Coordinator for the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Neosho and event organizer. "Thanks to the generous sponsors from throughout the community, we were able to give away more than 360 prizes including 250 Easter Baskets, 110 toy prizes and about 600 candy treat bags to the kids. Every child who participated in the egg hunts received either a prize or a candy treat bag, which made for a lot of happy campers."
A new addition to the event this year was courtesy of the Neosho Fire Department. The department had a fire truck on site and utilized to sound a horn and siren to begin and end each of the five egg hunt rotations.
"We are grateful to the more than 100 volunteers who helped make the day such a great success," Henry said.
Multiple area churches, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and youth organizations came together to partner with the City of Neosho Parks and Recreation Department to provide this wonderful day in the park.
Sponsors for the event were Gospel Lighthouse Church, First Lutheran Church, Sweetwater Baptist Church Adult and Teen Challenge of the Four States, The Canopy, Ignite Church , Cornerstone Bible Church, Neosho Freeman Family YMCA, Rocketdyne Church of Christ, Cross Church, Monark Baptist, Northside Baptist Church, Community of Christ Church, Fellowship Baptist, First Christian Church, Wal-Mart, Oak Pointe Assisted Living, Lowe’s, New-Mac Electric, Clark Funeral Homes, Walgreens ,Robbins Construction, Food 4 Less, Opal Foods, Sam’s Club, WestCobb Alliance of ReeceNichols Real Estate ,NHS Key Club, NHS ROTC, MSSU Student Athlete Advisory Committee ,Crowder Technical Education Center, all in partnership with the City of Neosho Parks & Recreation Dept.
