The 22nd annual Newton County Relay for Life began and ended with hope.

The event was held last Friday, June 14 on the Neosho H2igh School practice field adjacent to Bob Anderson Stadium.

A number of booths and activities were available when the event began at 5 p.m. with the kickoff at 6 p.m. The lip sync contest brought out a variety of talented performers that ranged from Beauty and the Beast to the Blues Brothers. The Blues Brothers took first prize honors with Woody and Jessie coming in at second place.

The Survivor's Walk began at 7:15 p.m. After the initial lap, family and friends were invited to join the walk.

Many sponsors made the event possible, including the platinum sponsor, Certified Express, Inc.
