Although details are not yet available, Neosho City Manager Leland Butcher, has submitted his letter of resignation to the city after less than a year on the job.

A special session of the Neosho City Council is slated for Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Butcher''s letter of resignation is one of two items on the agenda. The other involves city employee health care.

"As of right now all I am going to say is that I wish the City of Neosho the best in the future," Butcher said in a statement to the Neosho Daily News. The City of Neosho has made no formal announcement rather than notice of the special session.

Butcher was hired as Neosho City Manager last year and began his official duties on September 24.

He replaced interim city manager Dana Daniel who served in the position for about two years. Daniel replaced former city manager Troy Royer, who also resigned.

The Neosho Daily News will provide additional details as they become available.
