A group of local Neosho residents and business people gathered on Tuesday at Four States Dental Care to mark thirty-five years in the community. In 1984, Dr. Dale Kunkel arrived in Neosho and opened up his business. For the last twenty-three years, his clinic has been located on LaQuesta Drive but the original location was at the corner of Harmony Street and Neosho Boulevard.

Kunkel, a native of Corpus Christ, Texas, arrived in 1980's after completing his education. He has, however, kept up with technology through a variety of continuing education courses. When not in the office, Kunkel and his wife live on a 238-acre ranch where they raised commercial and registered Red Angus cattle.

"When I first came here twenty-five years ago and opened up at the corner of Harmony and the Boulevard, it was one employee and myself, 1100 square foot and one chair," Kunkel said.

"We've grown now to three locations and twenty five, twenty six chairs plus 40 some employees including five dentists. We're honored and blessed to have been part of this community for 35 years. I came straight out of dental school, hung up my shingle and went to work."

His other locations are in Webb City and Monett.

The Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce was on hand for a ribbon-cutting to mark the occasion.

Stuart Puckett, Neosho Chamber president, recognized Kunkel.

"We appreciate your time and effort you've put into the community," Puckett said.

Refreshments including iced coffee and cupcakes were available.
