There's been a supermarket at 1000 South Neosho Boulevard since the 1970's. Over the years, the name has changed more than once and this week, it's changed again. So has the way they sell groceries.

King Food Saver is now open in the former Price Cutter location in Neosho. Rob Marsh, vice-president of King Food Saver's parent company, Pyramid Foods, answered a few questions about the change.

NDN: Describe for us how King Food Saver works.

MARSH: We price every item at cost, then add just 10% at the check-out! Product cost is determined by the expense it takes to buy and get it from suppliers to the shelf.

NDN: Will shoppers be able to find the items on their shopping list?

MARSH: Customers will find their favorites in the same location and at a cheaper price.

NDN: What are the advantages for customers with King Food Saver?

MARSH: They will definitely have a lower food bill with the same friendly faces helping them out at the store.

NDN: Will the store offer the same features such as a bakery and floral department?

MARSH: Yes! In fact, we added back a service deli case where our customers can have all their favorite deli meats sliced fresh daily.

NDN: Will there still be a weekly ad flyer?

MARSH: Typically, in operating a cost plus format, you don't publish a weekly flyer to minimize operating costs and pass those savings along to the consumer. However, we will have a weekly flyer to kick off the savings and help spread the word about our low prices.

NDN: What would you like to tell Neosho about King Food Saver?

MARSH: We invite everyone to come give us a try and realize we are local and employee owned. We will do everything in our power to make King Food Saver your one-stop grocery store."
