Nancy Lee Wagner
On Monday, June 21, Nancy Lee Wagner, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 86.
Nancy was born on October 9, 1934, in Pittsburg, KS to Loen (Bill) and Lucille (Williams) Rentfro. She was a 1952 graduate of Neosho High School and worked for over 32 years as an office nurse at Sale Memorial, and later Freeman Hospital in Neosho Missouri.
On June 1, 1952, she married Chester Wayne Wagner. They raised two sons, Roger and David, and one daughter Jody. Nancy and Chester lived and worked most of their life in Neosho but in 2010, after several years of retirement moved to Joshua Tree California to enjoy the warmth of the Southern California Desert.
Nancy loved cooking and taking care of her family and made a tradition of cooking Sunday dinners for whatever family were able to come. She believed in cooking big meals and was often teased that she cooked for 50 to feed ten. Always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind she was proud of all of her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a selfless, wife and mother who always had a smile and looked to the future with nothing but positive thoughts.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Bill Rentfro, her mother Lucille Rentfro, and her sister Barbara Smith. She is survived by her husband Chester, her three children, and their families: Roger Wagner and his wife Teresita (Stacy) of Joshua Tree, CA, Jody Wagner Martin, and her husband Bruce, Neosho, MO, and David Wagner, Los Angeles, CA. Other survivors include a sister Judy Fuller of Carthage, MO, and three grandchildren, Shelley Cooley and her husband Chris, Adam Wagner, and Kyle Wagner and his wife Daniella, and one great-granddaughter, Parker Cooley.
Nancy's body was taken for cremation and a private family service will be held at a later date. In place of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wagner Family Scholarship Fund at Crowder College Founation 601 Laclede, Neosho, MO 64850 or online at the Foundation's website: crowder.edu/foundation (please specify Wagner Scholarship Fund).
