I was thinking about a sliver I fought for about a week as I walked along Wildcat Boulevard the other morning. It was under one of my fingernails.
I had dug and dug to remove it with a needle and a sharp knife. I thought I had it all out, but it continued to bother me so much that it throbbed at night.
For some reason, it did not get red, swollen, or become hot. It simply hurt.
