Executive Orders are in the news again. Just like many presidents-elect before him, Donald Trump claims he will repeal the current President’s orders. However, President Obama has issued far fewer executive orders (EOs) than any president this century, and most of those orders have been uncontroversial. For example, I doubt that Trump will see the need to repeal the order which provided for better civilian protection during air strikes (7/1/16).

Although most executive orders are routine, there have always been outcries against some EOs. Recently some complaints against President Obama have been political fabrications and complaints against “actions” that were not EOs at all, such as the justice department’s attempt to clarify Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments signed by President Nixon.
