So after decades of failing to address the nation’s illegal immigration issue we now have an immediate humanitarian crisis? And why is there such an uproar? Wait for it – we now have a President who is actually going to enforce the law. What a novel idea that is.

So after decades of failing to address the nation’s illegal immigration issue we now have an immediate humanitarian crisis?  And why is there such an uproar?  Wait for it – we now have a President who is actually going to enforce the law.  What a novel idea that is.
I am not making light of this issue with my sarcasm.  But, it does seem pretty disingenuous that everyone is howling at the top of their lungs about an issue that has been brewing for 3 decades.  And why haven’t we done anything?  It’s because we have not had a leader with the intestinal fortitude to try to fix the problem.
I thought it was pretty telling when I listened to a replay of candidate Barack Obama lament about how bad the illegal immigration issue was.  But, President Barack Obama little or none was done to find a solution.  And you can go back to President Clinton’s presidency and hear him say the same kinds of things.
And now we have a crisis.  I listened to a commentator this morning that revealed that one of the images that was circulating that showed kids lying on the floor in cages was actually taken in 2014.  I don’t think Trump was president in 2014 but let’s just blame it on him anyway.
I don’t want families to be separated and I don’t want to see kids crying and that’s what those who don’t want true immigration reform are betting on.  It’s one of the oldest tricks in the book – if you can’t win on the facts use emotion or at least yell louder than your opponent.
The fact is that we do have a crisis in our nation and it is that we do have the will to protect our sovereignty.  Many on the left think that we should have open borders and take everyone who wants to come here with no questions asked.
They think that we should welcome everyone from the other nations because they just want to make a better life for their families.  That’s great but what happens when they get across the border – legally or illegally?
Of course we must now educate the kids and put even more burden on our public education system by requiring them to provide services in multiple languages.  And we can’t let the kids go without proper medical care.  And what about food?  We can’t let them go hungry.  So our national debt just continues to rise exponential putting the burden on our kids and their children to pay.

So, we have people from Mexico and multiple Central American countries walk across the border illegally and we are told that we should welcome them with open arms and take care of them just because it’s the “right thing” to do.  And along the way just ignore the laws that have been passed by our Congress because many just don’t think agree with them.

When is enough going to be enough?  When are we going to say this is the line in the sand and we are going to make the tough decisions that need to be made?  When are we going to make our leaders lead and not sway back and forth as the political winds blow?

There is no better time than now to draw that line and hold our leaders accountable for addressing a crisis that has been 30 years in the making.  If not now then when?  Are we just going to keep kicking the can down the road for someone else to pick up?

I have been very clear that I don’t like a lot of things that President Trump has said and how he has said them.  But, I do respect that he has done exactly what he said he was going to do when he was a candidate.  Far too many say one thing on the campaign trail only to have an “epiphany” as an office holder and decide that they need to change their beliefs.

That my friends is hypocrisy and we see it played out over and over in our nation.  But, regardless of his crudeness and coarseness, I do believe that we have a President who has not “evolved” in his beliefs just to further a political career.

I have said it many times and heard it again on the news this morning – we are a government of laws not of men.  Laws define a society and if we don’t like a law then fix it.  But, ignoring laws and allowing emotions run the country is a sure way to fail as a nation.  Think about that as you see politicians crying instead of leading.
