The Crowder Lady Roughriders and the North Central Lady Pirates split their Region 16 doubleheader Saturday, the Lady ’Riders winners 13-5 and the Lady Pirates winners 8-1.

In the opener, Crowder scored six runs in the third inning, two in the fourth and three in the fifth en route to a run-rule victory.
Leadoff hitter Courtni Smith led the Lady ’Riders with three hits and three RBI, Lauren Nahnsen added three RBI, and Bailey Bunch, Mac Escovedo and Megan Heman each collected two hits. Crowder scored 13 runs on 12 hits and five North Central errors.
North Central took a 3-0 lead, but Crowder scored two in the bottom half of the first. The Lady ’Riders were quick on the scoreboard, as Smith hit a leadoff single and Bunch knocked a RBI triple. Bunch later scored on one of the five North Central errors.
Crowder went ahead 10-3 after plating six in the third and two in the fourth.
Escovedo started the third with a leadoff double and with one down, Nahnsen knocked a two-run home run, her 14th homer of the season. With the bases loaded, Smith closed out the six-run third with a bases-clearing double scoring Bethany Doty, Danielle Salas and Coley Ickes. Heman scored the other run in the third on another North Central error.
The Lady ’Riders scored in the fourth on an error and a Salas sacrifice fly.
After the Lady Pirates scored two runs in the fifth to draw to 10-5, Crowder finished off the game in the bottom of the fifth. Bunch hit a leadoff single and scored on an Escovedo double. Escovedo advanced to third on the throw. With two outs, Heman connected with a RBI single and the fifth and final North Central error plated Salas for the Lady ’Riders win.
Sophomore pitcher Bree Cornett earned the win in the circle, allowing five runs on six hits over five innings. She fanned four, walked two and surrendered a home run. Cornett ran her record to 17-5.
In the second game, North Central broke open a 1-all game with five in the fifth and two in the sixth, and the Lady ’Riders managed just three hits and committed six errors a game after producing 12 hits and making no errors.
Heman collected two of the three hits, while Smith had the other hit and scored the only Crowder run against North Central pitcher Allison Hilsabeck.
In the fourth, Smith reached on an error leading off the inning and worked her way around the bases for a 1-all score.
Smith doubled in the sixth. Heman singled in the fifth and seventh.
TeriAnna Mohler led North Central with two runs scored, two hits and three RBI, her game highlighted by a two-run home run in the sixth.
Rachel Balke and Aubrey Nelson each drove in two runs for the Lady Pirates.
Crowder, 34-13 on the season, returns to action today against Three Rivers, a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
