GRANBY — The Neosho boys and the East Newton girls won team titles Thursday at the East Newton Relays.
Neosho won on the boys side with 149 points, far ahead of second place East Newton and its 92.5 points.
East Newton took the crown on the girls side with 90 points, edging second place Mount Vernon’s 82 and third place Seneca’s 76.
The Neosho boys accumulated their 149 points through 20 points from sprints, 28 from distance, 32 from hurdles, 25 from relays and 44 from jumps.
Kyle Goff won double gold in the triple jump and long jump, recording winning marks of 42 feet, 4 1/2 inches in the triple and 21-0 in the long. James Goff added a fifth in the triple at 38-4 1/2 and a sixth in the long at 18-4. That’s 23 of Neosho’s 44 points from jumps.
Jarvis Funk placed fourth in the high jump at 5-10. Tucker Thorne and Kaleb Larson finished 1-2 in the pole vault at 11-0 and 10-0.
Ryan Greenstreet earned double gold in the 110 and 300 hurdles, running respective times of 16.7 and 42.5 seconds, the latter a personal best. Matt Brumback finished third in both events, in 17.1 in the 110 and 44.8 in the 300.
Neosho won the 4x100 (Payton Klier, Greenstreet, Donnie Fox and Funk) in 45.6 and 4x200 (Nathan Lewis, Kyle Goff, Greenstreet and Tanner Mitchell) in 1:32.60, took fourth in the 4x800 in 9:22.5 and finished sixth in the 4x400 in 3:56.3.
Kyle Goff and Tanner Mitchell finished second and third in the 400 in 52.0 and 52.2, respectively. All told, Goff totaled 28 points in three events: long jump, triple jump and the 400, with personal bests in all three events.
Trenton Cook won the 1,600 with a personal best time of 4:53.4 and finished second in the 3,200 in 10:54.2. Klier won the 800 in 2:00.8, nearly eight seconds faster than College Heights’ Scott Lewis, and he owns the No. 6 time in Class 4. Lewis finished fourth in the 100 in 11.8 and fifth in the 200 in 23.3.
East Newton earned 32 points from relays, 30 from jumps and 22 from distance, good for the vast majority of its points.
The Patriots strung together four seconds in the relays, 46.5 in the 4x100, 1:36.30 in the 4x200, 3:46.1 in the 4x400 and 8:47.2 in the 4x800.
Tyler Winsauer medaled in three jumping events, taking second in the long jump at 20-1 1/2 and third each in the high jump at 5-10 and triple jump at 38-11 1/4.
Dustin McDermott won the high jump, setting the bar at 6-1, edging Lewis by an inch and three athletes — Winsauer, Funk and Pierce City’s Devin Cox — by three.
Dayton Clouse and Caleb Jackson finished second and fifth, respectively, in the 1,600 in 4:56.2 and 5:02.0. Jackson and Dallas Smith finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 3,200 in 11:05.7 and 11:27.0. Josh Ames took fourth in the 800 in 2:10.3.
Tyler Lloyd took fourth in the 110 hurdles in 18.0 and fifth in the 300 hurdles in 46.0. Colton Ball placed sixth in the 300 in 47.0.
The 4x800 raced to second in 8:47.2.
Seneca finished 11th with 9.5 points, Diamond 12th with seven and McDonald County 15th with a single point.
Nate Williams earned the Indians eight of their points with fourths in the discus and shot put, tossing the implements 119-5 (discus) and 40-7 1/4 (shot put).
Kaden Peterson and Bryson Baker tallied five of Diamond’s seven points, with Peterson taking fourth in the pole vault at 9-0 and Baker fifth in the high jump at 5-8.
McDonald County’s lone point came on Huechi Xiong’s sixth in the pole vault at 9-0.
On the girls side, nearly half of East Newton’s 90 points were from distance, 41.
Emily Sorrell won the 400 in 1:01.5 and the 3,200 in 13:01.7, then also finished second in the 800 in 2:29.3 and the 1,600 in 5:21.7. Liberal’s Alexys Barton clipped Sorrell in both events. Still, the Jacksonville State recruit earned 36 points.
Kinsey Sorrell finished second behind her older sister in the 3,200 in 13:02.0 and third behind Barton and her older sister in the 1,600 in 5:42.0.
Jaylen Hayward finished sixth in the 800 in 2:40.4.
The 4x800 cruised to victory in 10:55.7, nearly a full minute faster than Monett.
Brynne Smith finished second in the triple jump at 31-5 3/4 and sixth in the long jump at 14-7. Grace Aulick took second in the high jump at 4-10.
Seneca finished third with 76 points, Neosho tied for fourth with 45, Diamond ninth with 21 and McDonald County 13th with 10.
Seneca’s Kaitlynn Massey won the 100 in 12.8 and took second in the 200 in 27.2 and 400 in 1:03.0.
Taylor Mailes finished second in the 300 hurdles in 52.8 and second in the long jump at 16-5 1/2. Adron Durman placed third in the 100 hurdles in 17.6 and fifth in the 300 hurdles in 54.8. Chantel Thiel took third behind Emily Sorrell and teammate Massey in the 400 in 1:04.8.
Chaney Platner won second in the discus at 96-9 and fifth in the long jump at 14-7 1/4.
Neosho’s Skyelar Long won the shot put with a toss of 36-1, nearly a foot longer than McAuley Catholic’s Miranda Green. Jewel Kivett placed fourth in the discus at 80-2.
The 4x400 won first in 4:26.3 and Madyson Reiboldt earned gold in the triple jump with a winning leap of 32-3. Brianna Keho and Leah Reed placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 800 in 2:37.0 and 2:37.8.
Diamond’s Ashley Burkey finished second in the 100 in 13.2, Grace Adkins took second in the pole vault at 7-0, and Kirsten Eden won fourth in the shot put at 5-8 and fifth in the discus at 79-7.
McDonald County finished third in the 4x800 in 13:06.0 and fourth in the 4x400 in 4:50.2 for its only points.
