SPRINGFIELD — The Neosho Wildcats’ season came to an end Monday in the Class 4, District 6 tournament at the Bill & Payne Stewart Golf Course.
Neosho finished a distant eighth out of 10 schools with a composite score of 445 and in a field with top scores dominated by Springfield-area schools, Carthage placed fourth at 362 and Joplin sixth at 363. Nixa won the team sweepstakes at 328 and Kickapoo’s Logan Smith won an individual district title with his 8-over par score on the links named after the late Missouri golfer known both for his personal style and his professional success (11 PGA Tour wins, three major championships).
Zach Sharp posted a 29-over par and tied for 32nd, Neosho’s best individual finish.
Team results: Nixa 328, Kickapoo 344, Republic 348, Carthage 362, Raymore-Peculiar 363, Joplin 373, Willard 381, Neosho 445, Belton 448, Parkview 451.

Sprague advances to sectionals
BRANSON — Diamond’s Bryce Sprague moved past districts and advanced to sectionals Monday at Marshfield, one of a trio of golfers left from the Daily News coverage area.
Sprague finished tied for ninth overall with a 27-over par score on the links of the Holiday Hills in Branson. Strafford’s duo of Tristan Crow and Taylor Stone finished 1-2 at 14-over and 15-over, respectively, in the Class 2, District 3 tournament.
Diamond came in seventh in the team sweepstakes with a composite score of 467, while Fair Grove and Strafford each finished at 371.
Seneca’s Dayton Fields and Caleb Garcia kept their seasons alive by finishing 18th and 23rd, respectively, Fields at 37-over and Garcia 39-over.
