Crowder had its second sophomore pitcher commit to an NCAA Division I college for the 2019 season in big Zach Jackson.

Jackson announced his commitment to Arkansas State on Wednesday, continuing a long relationship of Roughriders becoming Red Wolves. Just in the last couple seasons, Casey Vaughan signed with Arkansas State for 2017 and former Crowder players Kyle MacDonald, Nate Alberius, and Payton Lannon (who pitched one season at Crowder before transferring to Northeast Mississippi) each signed with Arkansas State this summer.

Last season, Jackson posted a 12-3 record with a 3.90 ERA, seven complete games, and 66 strikeouts and 20 walks in the No. 1 starter role. Jackson made 16 appearances, 14 starts, and led the team with 97 innings pitched.

Jackson's 12 wins matched the Crowder record shared by James Bridges (1982) and Mike Sisco (2012). His 97 innings eclipsed Bridges' record of 96 2/3 innings in 1982.

Jackson helped Crowder finish 54-14 last season and make its second appearance in the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.
