SEDALIA — The Crowder Roughriders improved to 5-3-1 overall and 2-2 Region 16 with a 4-1 win Saturday afternoon over State Fair.

Nearly 10 minutes into the match, Crowder’s Leo Mueller struck first on a free kick and nearly 20 minutes, Humberto Cruz made it a 2-0 Crowder lead off a pass from Joe Mbaye.

The ‘Riders scored twice more in the second half for a 4-0 advantage — Musa Kamara off a Mueller pass and Cruz unassisted on a free kick.

State Fair’s Mako Makoanyane denied Daniel Ost and the ‘Riders a shutout with the Roadrunners’ only goal coming very, very late in the 83rd minute.

Although State Fair took more shots overall than Crowder (15-11), the ‘Riders managed four more on goal (9-5) than the Roadrunners.

Ost made four saves on five shots, while Landon Dove had five saves but four goals allowed.

Crowder returns home today for a 4 p.m. Region 16 match against Jefferson at Roughrider Soccer Field. The Vikings are 6-5 overall and 4-1 Region 16, with their only loss in region play coming against NJCAA Division I No. 2-ranked St. Louis.
