CASSVILLE — Seneca senior Maggie Moore started her quest for her third state tournament appearance in grand style with a Class 1, District 4 title Monday at the Cassville Golf Club.

Moore shot a 12-over par to win by two strokes over Purdy’s Zoe Brown and by seven strokes over Butler’s Katelyn McCrary, Bolivar’s Ashtynn Russell, and Mount Vernon’s Brooke Wendell.

Only one other Seneca player — Olivia Arlington — survived districts to advance to sectionals, as Arlington finished 25th, the final player to make the grade with her 48-over par score.

Mount Vernon won the team sweepstakes with a score of 398.

Moore and the rest of the sectional qualifiers will play Monday at the par-72 Frank E. Peters Golf Course in Nevada.

Last season at sectionals, Moore placed fourth with a 14-over and in her first time qualifying for state as a sophomore, she finished ninth at 19-over.

Moore finished second at districts last season and won the title two seasons ago.
