The Neosho Wildcats wrapped up the No. 1 seed in Class 3, District 12 with a 1-0 win Tuesday over Webb City at Lions Field.

Neosho won matches this season against Carl Junction, McDonald County, and Webb City, all three district opponents. Two of the wins also counted for the Wildcats in the Central Ozark Conference Large standings.

The Wildcats improved to 5-9 overall this season and they started their quest for a third straight Joplin Invitational title on Thursday against College Heights.

Saturday’s slate for the Wildcats includes Carl Junction at 10 a.m. and Joplin at 1 p.m.

All matches are played at Joplin High School, with the soccer and football practice fields being used on Saturday. Neosho plays Carl Junction on the practice and Joplin, of course, on the main field.

If tied after regulation, matches go straight to penalty kicks.

In event of a tie in the standings, the following will determine the winner: head-to-head competition, goal differences, and coin toss, in that order.

Back to districts. Neosho earned the right to host districts this season. The Wildcats finished second last season and they look to match the Lady Wildcats’ district title this past May.
