SPRINGFIELD — The Neosho Lady Wildcats, a day after a 5-2 win over Hillcrest in the district quarterfinals, ran into a brick wall Tuesday in the Class 2, District 11 semifinals.

Out of a possible 48 games, top seed Kickapoo won 47 and the Lady Chiefs earned a 5-0 win over the Lady Wildcats to punch their district final ticket.

Neosho’s No. 3 doubles of Kennedy Watts and Morgan Brattin scored the only point, in a 8-1 loss to Wersinger and McCurry.

No. 1 doubles Emily Mitchell and Mariah Pina lost 8-0 to Asante Haanstad and Reagan Brown and No. 2 Sarah Werner and Baylee Scribner lost 8-0 to Coral Tracy and Kylee Halverson.

No. 1 Tracy defeated Mitchell 6-0, 6-0 and No. 3 Haanstad defeated Scribner 6-0, 6-0.

Neosho finished 3-13 in duals this season, while Kickapoo improved to 9-3.

Lady Wildcat individual players returned to Kickapoo on Thursday for the individual district tournament, where individuals have a chance to extend their season and eventually reach state.
