The East Newton Lady Patriots, under first year head coach Shawn Trent (East Newton’s baseball coach), earned a school record 15 wins and for that success, East Newton picked up seven total all-district nods for Class 3, District 12.

On the first team, junior pitcher Natalie Oxendine and senior infielder Jaylen Hayward represented East Newton amidst the sea of district finalists Cassville and Monett, who combined for 10 first team selections out of a total 14.

East Newton senior infielder Emily Mojica, freshman infielder Chelsea Hawkins, senior outfielder Kinsey Sorrell, senior outfielder Brynne Smith, and senior catcher Randi Werries earned second team, with the Lady Patriots earning the most second team selections.

Monett — who earned its sixth district title in the last seven years and seventh time overall — reached the final four of Class 3 after a 5-2 quarterfinal win over Sullivan and a 7-3 sectional win over Logan-Rogersville. The Cubs play Smithville in the semifinals Friday.
