The Crowder Lady Roughriders entered Tuesday’s contest against Labette (Kansas) averaging 30 free throw attempts per game.

Labette, meanwhile, entered the night averaging 26 personal fouls per contest.

In the first quarter, true to form for both teams, Crowder reached the double bonus only 2 minutes, 44 seconds in and that ability to get to the line for the rest of the quarter helped the Lady ‘Riders to a 28-16 lead after one quarter en route to a 79-70 win Tuesday night at Bob Sneller Gymnasium.

Crowder, on pace for 112 points after the first quarter, slowed down to 12 and 16 in the middle quarters before picking it up again with 23 in the final 10 minutes.

Crowder improved to 8-3 on the season and the Lady ‘Riders hit the road Saturday for a return battle against Murray State (Oklahoma). Crowder defeated Murray State in their earlier contest this season at Bob Sneller. The Lady ‘Riders have won three straight headed into Saturday.

On Tuesday night, four sophomores led the way in double-digits for the victorious Lady ‘Riders — Tori Coulter’s three 3-point shots sparked her way to a team-high 17 points, Morgan Crawford and Zahria White each had a dozen points, and Coley Ickes added 10.

A fifth Crowder player reached double-digits, freshman Maegan Bandimere off the bench with 10. Coulter and Bandimere each provided a huge bench lift, combining for 27 points.

Freshman forward Alex Vogt finished with seven points and seven rebounds, while reigning Region 16 Division I women’s player of the week Michaela Mack tallied six points and three assists. White added six rebounds and Crawford pestered Labette ball handlers with four steals.

Labette guards DeAshia Young and Ta’Shay Jackson were the game’s highest scorers, Young 20 and Jackson 18 for the previously unbeaten Lady Cardinals (8-1).
