INDEPENDENCE, Kan. — The Crowder Lady Roughriders improved to 14-2 on the season and increased their winning streak to 13 games after a sweep Tuesday of the winless Independence Lady Pirates, 11-1 and 21-6 both in five innings.

In the nightcap, Crowder scored four runs in the first, four in the second, two in the third, two in the fourth, and nine in the fifth, while Independence scored five in the first and one in the third, the lead quickly reverting back to Crowder.

Crowder collected 21 runs on 16 hits and four Independence errors and the Lady ‘Riders also took advantage of eight walks.

Freshman third baseman Kristen Wade had a monster game with two runs scored, two hits, and six RBI, her hits highlighted by a home run.

Wade’s six RBI led 12 different players who had a RBI in the game — Kenzie Kallio added three, while Alexis Lowrance and Jordan Gartman each had two and Cloe Neece, Daryan Torix, Theresa Collins, Aryn Scoggins, Maddi Brown, Lexi McClellan, and Kai Redus each drove in one.

Gartman also homered for the Lady ‘Riders and Kallio and McClellan each doubled. Lowrance and Gartman each had a stolen base.

The Lady ‘Riders produced 12 singles.

Maddie Massanelli, who benefited from a ton of run support, earned the win by allowing six runs (all earned) on nine hits over five innings. She fanned three and walked one.

Emma Hill pitched a scoreless, hitless inning with one strikeout and no walks.

Crowder scored three runs in the first and the second, four in the fourth, and one in the fifth en route to the 11-1 win in the opener.

Kylah Clark and Brown combined to allow one run (earned) on three hits over five innings. Clark and Brown combined for three strikeouts and no walks, with Clark responsible for two strikeouts over her three innings of work.

The Lady ‘Riders collected 15 hits with three each for Ella Infante and Wade, while Alexis Lowrance had two hits and three RBI. Infante and Wade each drove in two runs.

The Lady ‘Riders came through with six doubles, one each by Infante, Wade, A.J. Downey, Neece, Kallio, and Baylor Miles.

McClellan did the fundamental thing twice with a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly, while Morgan Montgomery stole a base.

Crowder returned to action Thursday, weather permitting, at home against rival Jefferson. The Lady Vikings entered the doubleheader with a 9-3 overall record.
