The Crowder Lady Roughriders finished a 50-11 regular season with a two-game sweep Tuesday of Neosho County, winning both games by 8-0 scores.

The Lady ‘Riders head into the postseason on a four-game winning streak and No. 3 seed Crowder looks to defend its Region 16 postseason tournament crown from a year ago.

Tournament host Crowder opens against No. 6 State Fair at 11:15 a.m. Friday at the softball fields inside the Joplin Athletic Complex.

In the first 8-0 win Tuesday, winning pitcher Maddie Massanelli allowed three hits and struck out three and walked one.

Offensively, Crowder scored three runs in the second, one in the fourth, and four in the fifth. The Lady ‘Riders finished with five hits but worked 10 walks from Neosho County pitching.

Makaila Leonhart led Crowder with two hits, including a triple, while Kenzie Kallio, Kenzi Spurgin, and Kristen Wade each had one hit. Kallio and Elia Infante each drove in two runs, and Kallio and Baylor Miles combined for six of the 10 walks, three each.

In the second 8-0 win Tuesday, Crowder scored three in the first and five in the fifth, but the Lady ‘Riders finished with 14 hits this game and no walks.

Winning pitcher Emma Hill and reliever Maddi Brown combined on a one-hitter, with Hill throwing four innings and yielding both the lone hit and the lone walk. Brown pitched a spotless fifth inning.

Offensively, Lexi McClellan, Kallio, and Wade each had three hits to lead the way, while Miles had two more hits. Miles drove in three runs and Kallio picked up two RBI. Wade doubled twice and Kallio also doubled to go with her two runs scored and two RBI.

Crowder reached 50 wins for the second season in a row. In the month of April, Crowder put together a 18-2 overall record, highlighted by a 12-game winning streak.

On the season, Crowder finished 21-2 at home, 21-7 on the road, and 8-2 at neutral sites.

In 53 games, Miles hit .448 (64 for 143) with 53 runs scored, 23 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 77 RBI, and 19 walks opposed to six strikeouts.

Wade added seven homers and 60 RBI in 56 games, while Kallio had 51 RBI in 57 games and Daryan Torix 46 RBI in 44 games. Torix ht eight homers.

McClellan and Spurgin have 31 and 20 stolen bases, respectively, and Kallio leads the team with 62 runs scored.

Collectively, Crowder has scored 537 runs and tallied a team batting average of .402, team on-base .468, team slugging .602, and hit 41 home runs.

In the circle, Massanelli enters the postseason with a 24-3 overall record and a 2.42 ERA with 95 strikeouts and 37 walks over 139 innings. She’s thrown 17 complete games.

Defensively, the Lady ‘Riders are fielding nearly 94 percent.

In the regular season, Crowder won all four meetings against State Fair — two 8-0 games over in five innings in Neosho and then 10-7 and 16-4 in five innings in Sedalia just recently.

Then again, this is the postseason and we can throw all those records and stats right out the window.
