The 2018 Joplin Outlaws roster features several familiar names from area cities like Carl Junction, Joplin, Carthage, Pittsburg, Riverton, Fort Scott, Quapaw, Webb City, Stockton, and Neosho.

Former Neosho High standout Colton Marion recently completed his freshman season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and he’s one of six outfielders on the Outlaws roster.

Other familiar players include pitchers Dason Boren (Carl Junction), Tyler McGrew (Joplin), Jordon Musser (Carthage), Derick Newby (Webb City), Dante Richardson (Pittsburg), Dalton Weaver (Riverton), and Jared Wells (Carl Junction); infielders Kaleb DeLaTorre (Fort Scott), Gavin Merriman (Joplin), and Jabes Turner (Quapaw); outfielders Austin Landis (Joplin) and Calem Nutting (Webb City); and catchers Ryan Cedeno (Pittsburg) and Alex Wheeler (Stockton).

Riverton High head coach Danny Weaver returns as Outlaws head coach.

The Outlaws play in the South Division of the eight-team MINK (Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas) League along with the Ozark Generals, the Nevada Griffons, and the Jefferson City Renegades, while the St. Joseph Mustangs, the Sedalia Bombers, the Chillicothe Mudcats, and the Clarinda A’s make up the North.

Joplin begins its season Thursday on the road against the White River Cobras, but then the Outlaws return home Friday for a game against Ozark and that begins a run of 13 consecutive home games for the Outlaws at historic Joe Becker Stadium.

The Outlaws also host the league’s all-star game and home run derby on June 27.

While the Outlaws play at home a great deal of the first month of the season, they finish with 14 road games in July, including the final seven. Joplin plays at home for the last time July 14.
