TRENTON — For the first time since November and only the second time this season, the Crowder Lady Roughriders have won back-to-back games and their second win in a row came with a 79-65 victory Tuesday over North Central.

Crowder improved to 7-11 overall heading into Saturday's Region 16 opener on the road against Three Rivers.

On Tuesday, Elle Williams scored a team-high 15 points and her line included four rebounds, six assists, and one steal. Crowder's seasonal leading scorer at over 15 points per game has paced the team in scoring all five games in January and Tuesday marked the first time she did not reach 20 points this calendar year.

That only meant Crowder featured four players in double figures with Maia Wright (13 points), Alex Vogt (12), and Bethaney Gilkey (11) joining in on the fun.

Vogt's numbers included nine rebounds, one assist, two steals, and two blocks, while Wright had six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Gilkey matched Vogt with nine rebounds and had one assist and one steal.

Maegan Bandimere and Sydney Linny were not far removed from double figures, adding eight and seven points, respectively.

Crowder players combined for 50 rebounds and 21 assists, both positive numbers. The Lady 'Riders snagged 18 offensive boards in a game they doubled up their opponent in total rebounds.

Crowder outscored North Central 42-29 in the first and fourth quarters.

Da’Briauna Bables led North Central with 16 points, while Hailey Burrows added 13 and Megan Ernzen 11 for the Lady Pirates.

Since a pair of sub-60 point outings to start the new year against Redlands (86-54) and St. Louis (70-59), Crowder has scored the basketball for 81 points against North Arkansas, 80 against Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa, and 79 against North Central.

Sure Crowder would gladly take 78 points Saturday against Three Rivers (15-3).

The Lady Raiders have won eight straight games overall and that includes wins against Region 16 opponents Mineral Area (74-67), State Fair (56-53), and Moberly (69-47).

Three Rivers averages nearly 84 points per game and the Lady Raiders have five players averaging double figures: Hailee Erickson 14.1, Deanay Watson 13.4, Jordan Little 12.2, Katelyn South 11.4, and J'Kayla Fowler 10.2. South and Fowler have come off the bench the first 18 games.

The road has not been overly kind to Crowder this season with a 2-5 away record and one of those wins came against the Missouri Southern JV and the other Tuesday night against North Central.

All three of Three Rivers' losses have come at home, 90-88 in two overtimes against Southeastern Illinois, 88-67 against Wabash Valley, and 82-72 against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

Wabash Valley and NEO, though, are both ranked in NJCAA Division I, unbeaten Wabash Valley No. 6 and NEO No. 24. SE Illinois stands at 12-5 on the season and owns eight straight victories.

Crowder returns home Wednesday against Region 16 foe State Fair, traditionally one of the strongest teams in the region.
