POPLAR BLUFF — The Crowder Lady Roughriders opened Region 16 play with a 81-56 loss Saturday afternoon to the Three Rivers Lady Pirates.

Three Rivers outscored Crowder 53-26 in the second and fourth quarters, including 22-11 in the second and 31-15 in the fourth.

Crowder trailed 39-23 at halftime but used an 18-11 advantage in the third quarter to make it a 50-41 game entering the final stanza.

Sophomore forward Alex Vogt played the best game for Crowder with 17 points on 5 of 14 shooting from the field and 7-8 from the stripe, seven rebounds (including five offensive boards), one assist, two steals, and four blocked shots. This was probably her best performance of the season.

Three Rivers held Crowder seasonal leading scorer Elle Williams relatively in check, as she finished with 10 points, her lowest point total since the calendar turned over to 2019. Williams had two rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Maia Wright added nine points, eight rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block.

Crowder was hurt by 30 turnovers.

Three Rivers, meanwhile, knocked down 13 3-point shots on the day, shooting a high-volume 32 long-range shots.

Jordan Little led Three Rivers with 18 points, three rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block. Deanay Watson finished with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Hailee Erickson had 11 points, one rebound, four assists, and four steals. Katelyn South came off the bench for 12 points and seven rebounds, while An’Nyah Pettus and J’Kayla Fowler helped out the bench production with nine and eight points, respectively, and a combined nine rebounds (Pettus 5, Fowler 4).

Three Rivers improved to 16-3 overall and 4-0 Region 16, while Crowder dropped to 7-12, 0-1.

Crowder returns home Wednesday for a Region 16 contest against State Fair, a 6 p.m. start from Bob Sneller Gymnasium.

State Fair, one of the perennials in Region 16, might have a 4-10 overall record, but please keep in mind that State Fair lost 56-53 recently to Three Rivers.

Sophomore guard Jazzmyn Elston averages 17 points to lead the Lady Roadrunners.
