The Crowder Lady Roughriders improved to 29-1 overall with a sweep of State Fair on Friday, 4-2 and 7-3, at Roughrider Softball Field.
In the 4-2 victory, Crowder pitcher Bailey Buffington and State Fair pitcher Madison Love exchanged goose eggs until Crowder scored one in the fourth. The Lady ‘Riders added two in the fifth and one in the sixth, while State Fair scored both runs in the sixth.
Buffington allowed two runs (both earned) on three hits over seven innings with 13 strikeouts and one walk. She improved to 13-1 overall with a 1.07 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 85 innings.
Offensively, Baylor Miles led Crowder with three hits and Shelby Chavers added two. Payton Wildeman, Kenzie Kallio, Buffington, and Dia Jackson each had the other Crowder hits. Kallio, Wade, Jackson, and Chavers each drove in runs. Wildeman and Jackson both doubled.
Love drove in both State Fair runs with a two-run homer.
In the 7-3 victory, Crowder rolled up a 7-0 lead after plating single runs three straight innings and then four in the sixth.
Maddy Prough tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits. Prough struck out nine and walked none in a very strong performance. She improved to 12-0 overall this season with a 1.04 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 67 innings.
State Fair plated three runs against reliever Aspen Younce in the sixth.
Miles and Lexi Lowrance each led Crowder with three hits, while Lexi McClellan, Jackson, and Marissa Smith each had two. That quintet combined for 12 of Crowder’s 14 hits.
Miles and Lowrance each drove in three runs.
Crowder returns to action Tuesday at home against Maple Woods.
