The Neosho Wildcats opened their golf season with a first place team finish Thursday at the Neosho Kick-Off Tournament at the Neosho Municipal Golf Course.

Neosho scored 363 points overall and Seneca finished second at 382, McDonald County fourth at 436, and Diamond fifth at 472.

Neosho’s Xander Woodward and Landon Werneke came in first in best ball at 90, Derrick Olsbo and Jace Parmley shot 88 and 89 respectively in individual competition, and Kytn Francisco and Josh Tribbey carded 96 in scramble.

Seneca’s Caleb Garcia and Dayton Fields shot 89 and 95 respectively in individual competition, Garrett Babbitt and Keegan Bradley an 103 in best ball, and Eli Lawson and Jacob Dunkin placed fourth in scramble at 95.

McDonald County’s Sam Whitehill and Payton McKee posted respective scores of 99 and 109, Dayson Fickle and Blake Harrell put up 116 in best ball, and Wyatt Habert and Rendon Lane finished with an 112 in scramble.

Diamond’s Tyler Clement and Blake Savage shot respectively 114 and 119, Haylee Austin and Tristan Kralicek tallied 123 in best ball, and Katie Langford and Calen Grundy scrambled for 116.

Nevada’s Owen Swearingen won the individual sweepstakes with a low round of 72 (1-over par) and Thomas Jefferson’s Luke Kirk and Aaron Wells carded 75 in scramble.
