DIAMOND — The Diamond Lady Wildcats experienced a pair of unforgettable moments during their 7-6 victory in eight innings Tuesday over Ash Grove.

McKaley Greninger took a 3-1 pitch in the seventh and delivered a tying three-run home run.

In the bottom of the eighth, Lauryn Macy loved the first pitch from Ash Grove’s Maddie Mobley and she hit the game winner to left field.

Diamond pitcher Madi Bentley retired Ash Grove in order in the top half of the eighth.

Bentley earned the victory, as she allowed six runs (three earned) on six hits with 12 strikeouts and no walks over eight innings. Bentley finished at 119 pitches.

Mobley allowed seven runs (all earned) on 11 hits with four strikeouts and six walks over seven innings. Mobley threw 117 pitches.

Offensively, Greninger led the Lady Wildcats with three hits, two runs scored, and three RBI, Bentley and Alyssa Wright each picked up a pair of hits, and Macy found a great time for her only hit of the game, though she also worked a pair of walks from her leadoff spot.

At different points, Diamond trailed 4-1 and 6-3 in the contest.

The Lady Wildcats ran their record to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the Southwest Conference after an 11-1 victory over Marionville and Tuesday’s victory. Diamond returned to action Thursday, weather permitting, on the road against SWC foe Lockwood.

The Lady Wildcats then host Spokane and Pierce City in their home tournament on Saturday.
