ANDERSON — The McDonald County Mustangs were haunted by seven errors and scant offensive production in a 9-1 loss Monday to the Webb City Cardinals.

Webb City scored two runs in the first, one in the second, three in the fifth, one in the sixth, and two in the seventh, while McDonald County scored its lone run in the seventh.

Cale McCallister and Draydon Emery combined on a two-hitter for the Cardinals. McCallister earned the victory and allowed no runs on two hits with six strikeouts and four walks over six innings. Emery allowed one run (earned) on no hits with two strikeouts and two walks in the seventh.

Boston Dowd earned his third consecutive start against a district rival — following starts against Neosho and Carthage — and took the loss, allowing nine runs (four earned) on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings. Dowd struck out three and walked five.

McDonald County dropped to 3-4 overall with three straight losses entering Mickey Mantle Classic play. The Mustangs began play with a game Thursday against Grove.
