JOPLIN — The Neosho Wildcats’ season came to an end with a 5-2 loss Monday to Webb City in the Class 2, District 12 tournament at the Millennium Tennis Complex.

In doubles, No. 1 Julian Henderson and Landon Austin defeated Webb City’s Peyton Mason and Trenton Hayes, but the Cardinals’ No. 2 Marcor Crockett-Bridger Jackson and No. 3 Cale Stephens-Jackson Dill came back with 8-6 and 8-0 victories, respectively, against Connor Burghart-Matt Houk and Carter Abbott-Melvin Lopez.

No. 3 Abbott defeated Crockett 6-4, 6-3 for the Wildcats’ lone victory in singles and Webb City’s victories at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 wrapped up their 5-2 victory.

Jackson defeated Austin 6-2 and 6-4, Dill defeated Houk 6-3 and 7-5, and Caiden Johnson defeated Lopez 6-4 and 6-4.

Henderson led Mason 6-3 in their match, while Burghart trailed Hayes 6-4 when play stopped.

The Wildcats finished their dual season with a 4-11 overall record, improving by four victories from the previous season.

Individual district play begins Friday at Carthage.
