Six area baseball players made the grade when the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association released its Academic All-State for the 2019 season.

In Class 5, Kaden King and Gage Kelley represented Danny Powers’ Neosho. King repeated for his final campaign and Kelley made sure a second different Kelley made the grade in as many seasons, Gage following Gavin.

For Class 4 Seneca, especially seniors Alex Cook and Gavin Clouse, this form of student-athlete recognition is not anything new.

Cook and Clouse closed out their prep careers with their third straight Academic All-State honor.

Monty Mailes and Titus Atkins, underclassmen, joined Cook and Clouse and the Indians — under head coach Chris Yust — overall generated a 3.14 GPA. Southern Boone established the bench mark in Class 4 with a collective 3.75 GPA.

Mailes returned for a second time and Atkins made the grade for the first time.
