The event began years ago as a fish fry but changed to chicken. Each year, around 1500 half chickens are prepared but they always run out so those who come hungry should come early.
It's the largest event each year in Wheaton and also become a time for homecoming, visiting, and class reunions.
Wheaton is located east of Neosho on Highway 86.
